Colonial/Early American House Plans

The distinct characteristics of colonial America, these designs will take you back to a time gone by. Beginning in the 17th century with the colonization of America, European settlers brought with them their homeland building techniques. These techniques, as well as topography, climate and building material availability, were adapted by colonial architectures.

No matter what style of Revival house plans it is, Colonial, French, Spanish or Tudor they all have very common features. Most homes are two or more stories with symmetrical facades and dramatic gabled roofs. Pillars and columns typically adorn the front entry. Multi-pane, double-hung windows are some times flanked by shutters or dormers. Most exteriors are either wood or brick. The interiors have center entry-halls with elegant stair cases, fireplaces and classical details.
